    2-7 Triple Draw Tips

      December 31st, 2009

2-7 Triple Draw lowball is a card game that has grown quite popular in the last year or so. To sum the game up in one sentence it is 5 Card Draw lowball, with 3 draws, aces are high and straights/flushes count. The “nut hand” in 2-7 Triple Draw is 2-3-4-5-7. Below are some of the major 2-7 Triple Draw strategies you need to know before you hit the tables:

    1. Hand Selection - Position plays an important part while deciding which 2-7 Triple Draw starting hands to play. I typically play hands with 3 or more cards under 8 in late position when there are no raises. In early position I usually stick to hands that have 4 cards under 9. The type of players you are up against is another important factor.
    2. Bluffing - Bluffing in 2-7 Triple Draw poker is very common. If a player is betting each time and drawing one even if he catches a pair on the last draw he will still bet.
    3. Odds - Knowing the odds in 2-7 Triple Draw is very important. Sometimes calling with an Ace high is the right decision, especially when the other player(s) drew one or more cards on the last draw. Pot odds also come into play a lot.

Don’t Be Afriad To Bet In 2-7 Triple Draw

If you notice that the other players in the hand with you have been drawing more cards than you are, if you are drawing any at all, you want to bet the pot strongly. If an opponent is drawing more cards than you, that means that they are usually farther away from a winning hand than you. Of course there is always the chance that they get lucky and draw all of the cards that they needed, but more times than not, if you are drawing less cards, it is because you have a better hand. The great thing about 2-7 Triple Draw, is that it allows you to draw 3 times, with 4 betting rounds, where you can gather a lot of information about the other players and the cards they are holding. Betting strong while you possibly have the best hand is the best way to keep players from trying to draw out on you. Of course, being a draw style Poker game, it is harder to bluff players out of the pot, so be sure to check out your surroundings before putting your chips on the line.

    3 Card Poker Guide

      September 26th, 2009

I’m a big fan of online casinos. I wanted to share my favorite casino games with you guys. First and foremost is Three Card Poker. This online casino game offers more excitement than any other game I’ve ever played. You basically get 3 cards and if you get any of the following you will win:

    • pair
    • straight
    • flush
    • straight flush
    • 3 of a kind

You can win anywhere from 2 times your bet to 30 times your bet. There are a couple of ways to play as well.

3- Card Poker - Pair Plus

When you make a pair plus bet in 3 card poker you are basically just going after the jackpot payouts. The 5 hands mentioned above will earn you a win regardless of what the dealer has. Hitting a straight flush is worth 30X your bet and a pair is worth twice your bet.  The real money is won via straights and flushes as they naturally occur much more often and 4 and 6 times the bet respectively.

3 Card Poker Vs The Dealer

You can play against the dealer as well. You can call/fold with whatever hands you want but the dealer has to call with a queen or up. If you bet $10 and you want to call you have to put up another $10 which is a good thing since if you are calling you at least have AK which gives you a big advantage over the dealer. If the dealer has a queen or up you will receive a payout on both bets. If they fold you will only receive the payout for the initial bet.

    2-7 Single Draw Rules

      September 17th, 2009

In the  27 single draw rules the player immediate to the left of the player who has been designated the big blind may begin the betting. This player may call, fold, or raise the big blind amount (from the example above, $2). After the player has decided what to do with their hand betting wise, the play will continue in a clockwise rotation around the table until all players have either called or folded the most recent highest bet.
In the instance where no player raises during the first round of betting, the big blind player will have the option to “check.”

    The Single Draw

After the first round of betting in 2-7 single draw, players will move on to the drawing round. This is when each player has the option of discarding up to the five cards in their hand, or none at all, and then drawing the number of cards that they have discarded. As soon as the player who is the small blind has completed the single draw, play continues in a clockwise direction around the table. Once all of the players at the table have had a chance for the “draw,” the final round of betting will take place.

Full Tilt Poker’s 7 Game Mix - How To Play

      August 29th, 2009

The newest sensation for poker players is 7 Game Poker, which includes 7 different versions of poker during each set. This game is found only on the Full Tilt Poker site.  Below is a list of a condensed set of basic rules of the seven different poker games to look over, so you can begin playing this new and exciting game.   Here are the rules of 7 game poker mix.

    Holdem Fixed Limit—Game Number One

Holdem fixed limit is played like your typical game of Texas Holdem but limits are placed while betting.  For instance, if you play at a $5/$10 table, the maximum bet you can bet on the first two rounds is only $5, while the last two rounds of play are increased to $10.  Also, during game play, the small blind is $5 and the big blind is at $10. This will be one of the more challenging games for Stud players that want to try out 7-game poker.

The first bet will begin the round and all players will be dealt their pocket card face down for play.

Fixed Limit High/Low Seven Card Stud—Game Number Two

During game play, the ante and five rounds of betting are used.  In the beginning of each game, each player will be dealt two cards that are facedown, four cards face up, and a river card that is dealt face down.   However, before the players receive their three opening cards, they must ante to the pot.  The player that has the lowest card shown will initiate the betting at a half of the low bet.  After that, the player with the best shown hand will lead the betting process.  The first two rounds of play are bet at the Low limit and the last two are bet at the High limit.  The Ace can either be high or low depending on the type of hand that you are putting together.  The player may also combine any of the five cards to make their best high or low hand for the round.

    Fixed Limit Razz—Game Number Three

Razz is similar to seven card stud but the lowest hand will win.  All of the players must ante before the beginning deal, and a bet has to be placed at the lower limit after the beginning deal.  All of the bets, however, must equal the lower limits during the first two rounds of play and the remaining rounds are bet at the high limit.  If the players run out of cards during play, the dealer will add a community card for all players to use.

Omaha Fixed Limit High/Low—Game Number Four

Players try to get the best hand by using two of the four pocket cards and using three cards from the community spread.  The player holding the button can begin the betting process for the game.  The two players to the left of the dealer are known as the small blind and big blind in that order, while the player following the big blind player is first to place his/her bet.

Seven Card Fixed Limit—Game Number Five

Four cards are played face up and three cards are played face down for each player at the table.  Standard poker rules apply while each player tries to construct the best hand with their cards.  Only five rounds of bets are permitted in the seven card fixed limit game.

Texas Holdem No Limit—Game Number Six

One of the more popular forms of online poker, Texas Holdem no limit is typically played far less than the standard Texas Holdem.  All players will receive at first two pocket cards.  After that, five cards will be dealt as community cards face up in the middle of the game table.  In Texas Holdem no limit, there is only one big blind and one small blind during play.  The bet for the Big blind is typically 1% of the buy in for the game.

    Omaha Pot Limit—Game Number Seven

From the title of the game, no pot limits are in this game.   All players are permitted to use only two cards from their own hand and three cards from the community spread to construct their best possible Omaha hand.

Play Rummy - Tips And Rules

      August 13th, 2009

If you have ever played rummy online you will have noticed that most players do not play very well. That is usually because they do not know the proper online rummy rules. When I was a kid I played rummy a lot but when I tried playing online when the internet first got popular I was surpirsed by the fact that everyone played differently than me. I just basically playing a totally different game.

We used to play for a penny a point up to 300 so it was never much. As I got older me and my buddy used to play for a lot more, even up to a quarter a point. Online rummy is played a lot differently though. I played at the free tables for years before I even attempted to play for money

I’m still not a winning player but I think rummy is a great alternative for players that are worried about the legality of poker. Rummy is legal in a majority of states if you are playing online and for money. If you are in one of the restricted states you can still play at the real money rooms like RummyRoyal.com. This room in particular is a good one because they have a whole section in their platform devoted to fun play or free play.

Rummy is an excellent game to play when your poker bankroll is running low or you just need a break from grinding it out. I have won a few of the rummy tournaments lately and its a very cool experience. Its a lot different than a poker tournament and the playing field is much smaller but who cares, a win is a win.

5 Card Draw Tells - Strategy

      June 14th, 2009

The poker “tells” that the other players around the table exude are among the biggest helpers that you will find as you work to form your Five Card Draw  strategy. These tell-tale signs can be very obvious, or they can be hidden so well that it takes a sharp and knowing eye to discover them. The most common poker tells are:

    1. Eye movements. Many of the professional 5 card draw poker players out there wear visors or sunglasses they play to hide eye action like staring at their cards or looking to the next players to see if those remaining players are studying their cards. Players may also ask you questions about your hand to detect a lie in your visual response.

    2. Facial expressions of happiness or unhappiness depending on hand strength.

    3. Anxiety shown as sweating, dilated pupils, flexing of muscles in the body, dry sounding or raspy throat, and other physical signs of agitation or anxiousness. Many players will watch the vein on the face’s top side to determine if the opponent across from them has a raise in blood pressure.

    4. Trembling hands when they have good cards.

    5. Body posture changes like slumped shoulders (bad hand) or fully erect and attentive (good hand).

    Stud Hi-Low Guide

      May 4th, 2009

Stud hi/lo poker has the same basic betting rules as the game of 7CS.
The big difference of course is the fact that it is Hi/Lo. This means that the pot will be split equally between the holder of the high hand and the low hand. This can be the same person. There are many different pay out options as there could be a split for the high pot while one player takes the low pot or the other way around.

Suits do not matter in determining the low or high hand.
The most important rule in determining the low hand is that straights and flushes do not matter, so the “nut” low hand is A-2-3-4-5.
The low hand will be determined by looking at the HIGHEST low card in the hand.
This means that A-2-3-4-7 would lose in a hand against A-2-3-5-6. This often can lead to frustration and confusion as players would expect LOW cards to determine the Low hand. This is not the case however and needs to be looked at carefully when in a hand. In stud poker it is important you understand these rules.

    Mistakes In 7 Card Stud

      April 29th, 2009

A lot of 7 card stud players tend to not look at other players hands. They decide what is a good hand judged on the cards in their hands. This is easily illustrated by the following example of a bad 7 Card Stud hand. You hold 3-3-6-6-A on fifth street. An opponents is showing 8-8-2 and has been betting the whole time. This is an excellent time to fold as either an 8 or a pair in the hole or a matched 3 is already enough to beat you as the high pair shown is higher then your pair A lot of players think that their hand is good and bet with that. A good look at other players cards can stop this from happening and don’t ever get annoyed if time is called on you. A lot of players will, definitely in live games, but also on the internet, call for time and put pressure on a player that is thinking about making a decision. If you really have a decision to make then take it when your calculations are ready and not because players ask you to make them.  In 7 card stud mistakes will cost you a low of money.
