BARAMIS
ARZEN-GAFOULSpecies:
human
Gender: male
Age: 34
DOB:
Birthplace: The Wildlands, Three Tooth Tribe
Occupation: Paladin Champion
Languages: Common
Personality
Baramis is a barbarian, but don't let that fool you. He may not be
well-learned in the sciences and arts, but he's extremely intelligent.
He always thinks before he charges and is a strong strategist. He can
read and write, and quite well at that. He looks like a rugged fearsome
brute, but that's simply the way everyone looks where he comes from.
As big and strong and bulky as he is, Baramis is somewhat shy. He
doesn't speak up often, used to having his ideas ridiculed just because
he's a barbarian. He's not sensitive or weepy. He has a thick hide. He
just doesn't expect people to listen to him so he stays quiet. He never
really opens up to people, preferring a solitary lifestyle.
Baramis is extremely honorable and values personal honor above all
else. Like most barbarians, he doesn't believe in large organizations or
any sort of honor in following rules. It's his belief that you have to
do the things that let you live with yourself at the end of the day.
That usually doesn't mean marching to war because some big leader guy
wants more land, which explains why the barbarian territories have been
shrinking. Baramis's way of life is an old one, and possibly a dying
one.
As his people are nomadic, Baramis likes to roam, but he's found in
recent years it's nice to have a permanent base camp. It's nothing
fancy, just a sturdy tent and a cooking pit, but it's home.
Physical Characteristics
Height: 5' 10"
Weight/Build: heavily muscled
Hair: Russet, very full and wavy, a tangled mess unless he washes
it (which is rare). he keeps it chopped around the nape of his neck.
Eyes: dark grey-green
Skin: tan
Face: square-jawed, strong, bearded, sometimes with small braids
in his beard
Attire: Armor. Lots of heavy armor. Magic heavy armor, blessed by
the Goddess. A big honkin' axe, and two really jaggedy-looking swords
designed to tear flesh to pieces. Like any sane person, he doesn't wear
his armor all the time, and when he's not in armor wears perfectly
civilized tunics and pants and capes, usually in dark colors, and with
nice embroidering. he always wears a silver earring or two, and is fond
of various silver jewerly. |

Collective History: the Green Circle
Nestled in the fertile lands is the haven known as the Green Circle.
Home to a small number of humans and elves, it is an area of peace and
prosperity, green and vibrant, and proof of the idea that humans and
elves can live peacefully together after the Great Wars. Ruled by a
collective of elves and Elders, its most honored family is the noble
Orvinque, holders of the Green Circle talisman after which the land was
named.
Things were peaceful for hundreds of years until the younger son of the
Orvinque family, Albemarle Grunsparwa Orvinque, stole the Green Circle
and ran off with it into the woods. He was pursued by the elder son,
Aronnax Grunhafoc Orvinque, and Cecil Lavanchy, a mage from the human
town. When Albemarle activated the Circle to defend himself from
monsters, he became the Circle's Bearer, and all the evils of the land
descended upon him, hungry for the Circle's powers. Albemarle fled, but
was eventually caught by Aronnax and Cecil who, unabel to remove the
Circle from Albemarle, were forced to join him. They journeyed up into
the snowy peaks of the Great North Mountains, where they encountered the
barbarian Baramis Arzen-Gafoul, who was on a holy quest for the Goddess
in the hopes of being named her paladin-champion.
On top of Snowy Peak, they fought the Lord of Blackdragon and defeated
him. But Blackdragon's minions were not so easily dissuaded, and the
intrepid heroes sought refuge in the Great North Temple's sanctuary.
There they were visited by the Goddess, who named Baramis her
paladin-champion, and Cecil her mage-champion. Empowered by the Goddess,
the heroes charged out and threw back the attackers, driving them away
from the Temple.
But it was too late for the land of the Green Circle. Without its
protective talisman, it had been overrun by orcs and all the fertile
greenery destroyed. Aronnax, rightly blaming Albemarle, pronounced his
brother was dead to him. He set out to gather up warriors to take back
the Circle. Cecil and Baramis, the Goddess' champions, set out to do the
Goddess' bidding and fight for her glory. Albemarle was invited into the
Goddess' home..
